ACOM 600S does not track

I am trying to get TRX Manager to control my ACOM 600S. Everything works fine except "TRACK".

Band DN/UP works but it does not follow my radio's frequency when I enable TRACK.

I have written a small program sending the 0x55 0x81 8 0x09 command to my PA and the
PA only responds to band up/down (0x40, 0x80) commands, there is no reaction to the direct
band selection commands (0x01-0x0A).

I have installed the PA as the Synchro 1 device with 9600bps and 1 stop bit.
It is high quality FTDI RS-232 serial converter. I have also disabled CAT control in the
PA and unplugged the CAT cable.

My PA has the latest firmware: 2.0. I am starting to suspect there is a problem with it.
Or some strange setting in the PA I have not figured out yet.
(I have done a factory reset without any change in behavior.)

Any advice would be welcome,

When you click the TRACK button in TRX-Manager, TRX-Manager sends the Band info using the &H9 command. It does not send the frequency (I think this function is for using with the future antenna tuner and does nothing on the amp itself).

So it should work. Make sure the Monitoring is open otherwise it does not track.

All the buttons work in the ACOM600S window; OPER/STBY DN/UP, OFF etc.
Also, output power, temperature etc. shows correctly.

I have the Monitoring window open and it shows the radio's frequency, S-meter etc. correctly.

Track does not work, however.

As I mentioned I have confirmed, using a separate piece of software, that the &H9 command only
works for band up/down and not for band selection with my PA.

So if TRX Commander sends &H9 to set band, my PA probably ignores it.

Do you know if this functionality in TRX Commander has been verified with a PA with Firmware 2.0?

2.0 is the version ACOM is shipping since some time back. (It is unfortunately not available for download).

When you click the band up/dn TRX-Manager sends
0x80 – Command “Next Band”
0x40 – Command „Previous Band”

When you "track", TRX-Manager sends the band numbers
0x01 – 0x0A – Number of desired band

Warning : with firmware V2.X, you also have the 60m band. The band number for 60m shifts the band numbers for all the bands below 60m but only for the 0x27 message, not for the 0X09 command !... anyway TRX-Manager reads the firmware version to interpret the band correctly. But this does not change your problem.

Please also note that auto BAND selection is not possible and not implemented if the amplifier is not operating (if in standby mode).

Yes, it has been tested with a V2 firmware including the new 1200S. You can contact me directly for more information and test.

Hi all

For information, ACOM will release a fix for this firmware. For unknown reasons, this function has been removed last year.
