I am just beginning to try to understand how the FT-991A may be used with TRX via the USB connection. I find no specific operational details in the TRX manual as yet. Is the operation identical to using a serial port? I understand I must install a driver for USB...correct? Where can I get more details of CW and SSB operations using USB between the TRX computer and the radio? Thanks.

Yes, using an USB port is like using a serial port because this is only a serial to USB adapter (there is no real USB support by rig manufacturers). You only have to find the serial port number wich corresponds to your adapter. Open the device manager... and with Yaesu, it is a "SILICON LABS..." adapter. Once you have the com port number, you define this one from the TRX-Manager's setup. Pse see other tips in the Yaesu FT-991 related section and Troubleshoting guide.
